ACCOUNTING MANAGER
Apply
principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial
reports by compiling information, preparing profit and loss statements, and
utilizing appropriate accounting control procedures.
PRIMARY
RESPONSIBILITIES
1.
Lead the accounting unit for the generation of weekly, monthly and annual
Management Accounts, variance reports and Cash Flow reports.
2.
Prepare of periodic Financial accounts and Board Reports for review
3.
Develop the annual operating budget and consult with departmental
management on the fiscal aspects of program planning, salary recommendations,
and other administrative actions.
4.
Establish, maintain, and coordinate the implementation of accounting and
budgetary control procedures.
5.
Monitor and review accounting and related system reports for accuracy and
completeness.
6.
Analyse variances and explore potential problems with departmental
management and making appropriate recommendations and advising of the impact on
the business
7.
Maintain the payroll for the university and prepare payroll related
information
8.
Maintenance of the Cost model of the University
9.
Prepare and review budget, revenue, expense, payroll entries, invoices,
and other accounting documents.
10.
Explain billing invoices and accounting policies to staff, students,
vendors and clients.
11.
Resolve accounting discrepancies.
12.
Recommend, develop and maintain financial databases, computer software
systems and manual filing systems.
13.
Supervise the preparation and maintenance of statutory payments e.g.
14.
Interact with internal and external auditors in completing audits.
15.
Monitor the University’s adherence to reporting requirements.
16.
Other duties that may be assigned by Management.
Supervisory Duties

working skill to ensure that assignments are executed efficiently

the job training for subordinates
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
-
A minimum
of Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance with 3 to 5 years related
experience
-
Knowledge
of QuickBooks is preferred.
-
Working
Knowledge of local tax and statutory regulations and the ability to analyze
financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections is
essential.

Work
requires willingness to work a flexible schedule, including occasional
weekends.

Knowledge
of accounting for non-profit organizations or higher education a plus.

An
inquiring and analytical mind and the ability to work logically,
consistently and accurately

Time
management and strong interpersonal skills

Ability to
discuss financial issues with professionals and those with little or no
financial background
