Commencement 2008

Graduate Profile: Joseph Hinneh

Joseph Hinneh was recognized as the best Corporate Finance student with both the Torvinyo and IC Securities awards. The two separate awards included cash prizes of over GHC 100 and GHC 200 respectively as well as a guaranteed employment contract to work at IC Securities, one of Ghana's top financial management firms.

Joseph Hinneh was a financial aid beneficiary while at Ashesi. He founded the Ashesi Debater's Society and was a member of the Ashesi Investment Society. He served as an academic representative for his class as well as an executive member of the Judicial and Electoral Committee of the university. Joseph interned with SG-SSB, Ghana; and Kobe Investments, Lagos, Nigeria. He assisted business students from the Colorado State University in their proof of concept project for opportunities without borders.

His final year thesis project was on dividend changes and stock price movements; evidence from the Ghana Stock Exchange. Joseph states “the Ashesi experience was a phenomenal one. The challenge was worth it. I feel empowered to contribute to the change that Africa so desperately needs”.
