August 24, 2017
Ashesi is happy to welcome a new member to our leadership team. Abdul Madhi joins the university as the Dean of Students and Community Affairs, and will serve on the Executive Team of the university.

“Having been out of Ghana for 19 years, I couldn’t [pass up] the opportunity to be part of  the realization of this Ashesi vision- to educate ethically upright and entrepreneurial leaders in the community and instilling in them the courage to do the right thing,” he said. “The opportunity to help students get involved in the community, to do well in their classes, seeing them graduate, and seeing them realize their goals – that is what excites me about the position, because I get an opportunity to do all of that for individual students at Ashesi.”

Prior to his new role at Ashesi, Abdul lived and worked in the United States, where he was the Director of Full-time and Professional MBA Program at the University of Illinois, Urbana, Champaign. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from the University of Illinois at Chicago, and an MBA from Governor State University, Illinois.

Abdul brings on board over fifteen years’ experience in designing, forecasting, marketing and implementing programs to yield results in corporate and nonprofit sectors and 13 years of experience in higher education working with a diverse population of faculty, staff and students.

In this new capacity, aside from serving as a member of the Executive Team, Abdul will head the Office of Student and Community Affairs team, which is responsible for creating and maintaining a safe, healthy, and supportive environment and culture where diversity and inclusion are valued and students learn to respect differences, take responsibility for their actions, and exercise leadership consistent with Ashesi’s core values.
