Caleb-Prince Padi Berimah ’22

Computer Engineering
Class of 2022
Orthlieb Scholarship

My name is Caleb-Prince Padi Berimah, but I prefer being called Padi. I am a Ghanaian from Odumase-Krobo in the Eastern Region. My nuclear family of seven include my parents, my three siblings, and myself. My sister, Precious Pearl, is currently at Ashesi in her second year.

I would like to say a very big thank you to God and the Ashesi donors who made it possible for me to gain this scholarship. It’s a privilege and an overwhelming honor to be given this competitive opportunity to study at this prestigious institution. My family and I will forever be grateful to Ashesi. We do not have words to express our heartfelt gratitude.

Initially, I wanted to go to the University of Ghana but Pearl, my sister, told me a lot of good things about Ashesi University and I observed the tremendous transformation in her after one year of study at Ashesi. I just had to change my mind. I bought and filled only Ashesi’s admission forms – it was Ashesi or nothing!

“As a Computer Engineer, I’ll be solving real-world problems and make life easier for people.
It is my greatest desire and I believe that having received this golden opportunity, I will
utilize it to fullest and make a mark in the history of Africa and the world for
generations to come to appreciate.”

I did some research on my own too and honestly, the opportunities Ashesi offers just cannot be compared with any other university on the continent. The environment at Ashesi is conducive for productive learning and the small class sizes make it possible for us to get the most out of our lectures. The infrastructure and the overall environment are extremely conducive for learning and any academic work whatsoever. Also, courtesy and a high level of etiquette is a compulsory requirement to be at Ashesi.

It is my dream to become a Computer Engineer because I love it and have an appetite for it. We are living in a global village where technology is the prime order of the day. It is impossible to come across any institution without technology and its application in any form. As a Computer Engineer, I’ll be solving real-world problems and make life easier for people. It is my greatest desire and I believe that having received this golden opportunity, I will utilize it to fullest and make a mark in the history of Africa and the world for generations to come to appreciate.
