In a brief ceremony, staff, faculty and students joined the Class of 2018 in the Archer Cornfield Courtyard to share tributes for Computer Science junior, Edward Musey ’18, who passed away on the evening of Wednesday September 7, 2016.

The ceremony gave members of the community an opportunity to share their memories of Edward and pay their respects to him.
“He has been my roommate since first year,” said Michael Akpawu ’18. “We shared stuff together, from clothes to food, to basically everything. It’s hard to believe Edward is gone. We’ll never get to crack jokes together or argue about football again. It’s sad we’ll never see him in our room again. I pray his soul rests in perfect peace.”
“Edward was of valuable help as I transitioned from High School to life at Ashesi,” said Joseph Yaw Akyin ’18. “From jokes and banters in WhatsApp groups to debates at the Bliss Lounge, Edward made me feel at home here. He gave me an opportunity to hone my leadership skills, when I served as a member of the Ashesi Football Association Disciplinary Committee, of which he was the chairperson. Now your watch has ended, Eddie, I pray Yahweh remembers your name when he calls out his faithful ones. Fare thee Well.”
Ruth Kwakwa, Dean of Student and Community Affairs, closed the ceremony after prayers were said for Edward. She also invited students to honor his memory. “Right now, let us be in memory of Edward,” she said. “We look forward to honoring his name at Ashesi. Every life is worth honoring, and everybody needs to be honored in a way that they gave to others, like Edward did.”
