Ways to Support Students
Scholarships
For one out of every two students, a scholarship has made all the difference between attending college or not. Gifts of all sizes from individuals and foundations help ensure that the Ashesi education is affordable to all students who qualify, regardless of social or economic circumstances.
Non-Endowed Scholarships
Donors who make a gift of $60,000 or more, that is not endowed, have the option to create a named four-year scholarship to support a student receiving financial assistance from Ashesi. Scholarships can be created for specific categories of students, including women, international students, or students from a particular country or region.
Endowed Scholarships
With a gift of $100,000 or more, donors can create a named endowed scholarship. Endowed scholarship gifts are invested, and the investment return is used to fund scholarships, opening doors to an Ashesi education in perpetuity. As with a named scholarship, donors who create endowed scholarships can specify a preference for supporting students in underserved categories and are also matched with a student ambassador who provides a report on their experience annually.
Capital Projects & Named Spaces
Well-designed and equipped residential and academic buildings, classrooms, and laboratories facilitate better instruction and contribute to better academic progress, success, and overall wellness of students and the university community.
As Ashesi increases enrollment through the addition of new programs and a dual-intake system, we have steadily been increasing university infrastructure with a goal to double floor space by the end of the decade.
Naming a Space Where Africa’s Next Leaders are Shaped
We invite donors and partners to leave a lasting legacy at Ashesi by making a permanent investment in the students, faculty, and ideas that are shaping a flourishing Africa.
Naming opportunities span the full campus, from a single classroom or outdoor courtyard to an entire building, with a space for every level of giving.

The Robert E. & Dorothy J. King Engineering Building:
recognizing the Kings' contributions to Africa
Bob and Dottie King have been steadfast supporters of Ashesi’s engineering program since 2013, contributing $1.5 million towards the construction of the building and its laboratory equipment. In recognition of this commitment, Ashesi named the facility after them.

philanthropist Kofi A. Tawiah
Kofi A. Tawiah is a Ghanaian-born engineer and entrepreneur who built a successful IT company in the San Francisco Bay Area before turning his attention to supporting the next generation of young Ghanaians. Through an endowment at the Ashesi University Foundation, he has helped fund scholarships for students, and Ashesi honored his generosity by naming a student residence hall after him.

Professorships & Fellowships
Professorships and Fellowships support and honor exceptional faculty at the university. If an endowment is established, the gift is invested, and the investment return is applied towards research expenses and a portion of the professor’s salary. These gifts are crucial for attracting and rewarding talented professors, promoting research, and ensuring sustainable financial support for academic excellence. They honor both donors and beneficiaries.

Research
Our research initiatives are grounded in interdisciplinary collaboration and a commitment to societal impact and student involvement. Through such engagement, students gain the experience and critical skills necessary for future leaders in academia, industry, and beyond.
Your donations play a crucial role in enabling us to maintain and add to research facilities, support talented faculty and students, and engage in research that address critical issues facing Africa and the world.
Experiential Learning Initiatives
Fund for Service
The Fund for Service provides structured support and funding to student-led projects in service to the community at large. With initial support from the Ford Foundation, and a historic focus on serving children and youth, the program enables learning through hands-on service.
The program has launched over 70 projects – spanning education and technology to agriculture and agribusinesses – many of which continue today or have become sustainable enterprises. Donor support will ensure the sustainable continuation of the program as more students at Ashesi pursue service and impact projects.
