Ashesi’s Career Fair welcomes over 90 companies

Ashesi hosted it’s largest and most diverse career fair yet. Over 90 companies from across 30 industries participated in the annual event. Over the years, the Career Fair has become a platform for members of corporate Ghana to engage with the Ashesi community on various career developmental levels.

“One of the many ways that Ashesi tries to bridge the gap between industry and academia,” said Abigail Welbeck , Associtae Director of Career Services. “Not only do we want to provide knowledge for the students in the classrooms but also we want to provide them with the experiences and skill sets that they need to become good candidates in the work place.”

Key sponsors of this year’s event included Ghana National Petroleum Corporation, Tullow Ghana, Genkey, PHD Media Group, Makedu Consult, RayCom Technologies, Blue Rose Limited, Databank Financial Services Limited , TDI-Global Limited, and Process Plan Automation.

Through the annual career fair, members of corporate Ghana are able to share a common platform where they can engage with other companies across other industries, expose Ashesi students, alumni and faculty to the needs of the corporate world, and also offer students and alumni the opportunity to explore career and employment options at their respective firms. 

As part of the fair, students participated in competitions aimed at testing their skills in presentation, branding and other traits components potential employers look out for. In addition to the fair, there were competition that challenged students to express themselves, their branding and their intellect.

For the second year running, the Career Centre hosted a session for creatives. This year’s session featured leading bloggers professional writers in Ghana: Gary Al Smith, Jemila Abdulai, Chief Moomen and Maukeni Kodjo.For the session, they shared their experiences and lessons garnered in their careers.
