2024 Ashesi Deep Dive

Date: October 6th - 8th, 2024

This event is designed for anyone who wishes to gain a deeper understanding of Ashesi University’s work, impact, and opportunities for partnership. During the Deep Dive, participants will meet with Ashesi University’s founder and the leadership team, students, faculty, and alumni. From learning about pioneering startups launched on campus, to delving into conversations in the classroom with Africa's future business and civic leaders, the Deep Dive offers an unparalleled opportunity to see how Ashesi is driving impact through higher education on the continent.

Hotel accommodation, in-country travel, and most meals will be included in the cost of the Deep Dive and will be coordinated by Ashesi University Foundation. Guests will be responsible for their own air travel and visa expenses. Contact us to stay up-to-date on the logistics for this year’s trip.

Meet the Presidential Award Winners

Join us for an inspiring conversation with three outstanding alumni who received the President's Award at Ashesi: Abigail Yayra Asafo '22, Hephzibah Emereole '22, and Ndze'dzenyuy Lemfon Karl '22. 

As the highest honor awarded to a graduating student, the President's Award recognizes outstanding achievement in scholarship, leadership, and citizenship. In this live conversation, moderated by Ashesi President Patrick Awuah, attendees will have the opportunity to hear from these exceptional individuals about their unique campus experiences and how they have been shaped by their time at Ashesi. 

The award recipients will share their perspectives and insights on various topics, including their journeys, challenges, and aspirations for the future. Attendees will also have the chance to interact with the speakers and learn more about how Ashesi educates ethical and entrepreneurial leaders in Africa.

Meet the Presidential Award Winners

Date: June 21st, 2022 | Time: 8:00-9:00 AM PT / 3:00-4:00 PM GMT

The President's Award at Ashesi is considered the highest honor a graduating student can receive. Recipients each year represent some of the strongest examples of the outcomes of the Ashesi education and are considered among the student community's most impactful leaders. On June 21st, 2022, we invite you to a conversation with all three of last year's recipients - Edem Yegbe '21, Tamisha Segbefia '21, and Lloyd Teta '21, as part of reflections on 20 years of Ashesi.

Strengthening data systems for the pediatric unit of Ghana's largest teaching hospital; winning $50,000 in funding to build drone technology; leading the growth of a student-led startup accelerator. The President's Award recipients you will meet during this session will share diverse perspectives on how their campus experiences helped them develop the courage to act, in a session moderated by Ashesi President Patrick Awuah.

Changing how Africa’s youth learn: Come join our virtual session

Date: April 8th, 2022

Join us for a public event through the Skoll World Forum on our work to implement a new model for impact in African higher education: the Education Collaborative. 

The Education Collaborative is an Ashesi-led African higher education program to transform systems and improve student, institutional, and regulatory outcomes for institutions and stakeholders on the continent. Through its network members, the Collaborative has brought reforms to some 116,000 students in Africa over the last four years. Our goal? To transform education outcomes for 1 million students or more by the end of the decade.  

Moderated by the Mastercard Foundation and featuring representatives of Education Collaborative partner institutions, this conversation will explore how the Collaborative plans to achieve its vision.



Fund for Service Virtual Community Event 

Date: October 14th, 2021  |   Time: 9-10am PT/4-5pm GMT

Hear how four inspiring Ashesi students and alumni are deepening their societal impact and transforming their communities.

The Fund for Service provides structured support and funding to student-led projects in service to the community at large. The program began in 2015 as an experiment in learning through hands-on service, with a historic focus on serving children and youth. The program has now grown through three phases and launched over 70 projects - many of which continue today. Fund for Service projects often involve support for education and youth mentoring, while others explore innovation in sanitation, health, technology, and sports programming. Join us to learn more about this important program preparing students for leadership as they serve the community at large.

The Deep Dive is designed as an introductory event for those who wish to gain a deeper understanding of Ashesi University’s work, impact and opportunities for partnership. Target participants include (1) government, philanthropic, nonprofit, business, and academic institutions and (2) all those interested in the future of African leadership.

Meet the Presidential Award Winners: Ashesi's most promising new graduates 

Tuesday, June 29th | 8:00-9:00 AM PT / 3:00-4:00 PM GMT

The Scholarship, Leadership & Citizenship Award, presented by Ashesi President Patrick Awuah, is given on an annual basis to three graduates who have lived out Ashesi’s core values during their time at the university. This is the highest award a student can receive at Ashesi and the recipients are always incredibly inspiring.

Three years ago, the Ashesi Venture Incubator (AVI) was launched as a pilot project to support enterprising Ashesi graduates with a one-year venture incubation program which also served as a national service opportunity for the fellows. Education Collaborative Annual Convening 

This was a 3-day activity-packed event to shape approaches in higher-ed and foster transformative partnerships among administrators, educators, development agencies and employers. The workshops, plenaries, panels, and innovation sessions were designed to develop institutions’ capacity to prepare students for successful careers, create and sustain entrepreneurship ecosystems, and rethink strategies for inclusive and diverse campuses. Ashesi Student Capstone Presentations

Capstone projects are an essential part of the Ashesi experience – something completed by every graduating senior. Each year, seniors work individually with a faculty mentor to design an entrepreneurship, research or applied project that allows them to use what they have learned throughout their time at Ashesi.  The Capstone presentations are both a chance for the students to demonstrate their academic understanding and intellectual application, and a chance for the community to celebrate their accomplishments.

Announcement: Planned Masters Degree Program with ETH Zurich

Ashesi University and ETH Zurich in Switzerland publicly announced a planned partnership to start a unique joint Master's Degree Programme in Engineering here in Ghana. The announcement was made during a virtual event celebration. Watch the take-off event here.
