Ashesi’s Got Talent

December 10, 2017
There’s definitely more to an Ashesi student than meets the proverbial eye. This semester, students presented their talents during the inaugural Ashesi’s Got Talent.

The Ashesi Student Council was inspired to host the talent show after seeing a number of students making social media headlines for their involvement in extracurricular activities. Ashesi’s Got Talent aims to showcase these students’ various talents, elevate school spirit, and engage students in activities beyond school work.

Adapted from the hit reality television series, America’s Got Talent, the show featured over 20 participants showcasing talents ranging from singing, dancing, and acting.

Over two months, participants auditioned, performed, and competed to win the top prize of Ashesi’s Most Talented. The goal of the program is to acknowledge the various talents on campus and give the winner a chance to be a part of our “Ashesi Unity Concert” which will host major celebrities on campus.

In the end, second year student Sebastein Dake was crowned the competition’s winner. “Ashesi Got Talent was a great platform for me to showcase my talent to the Ashesi Community,” he said. “Winning the show was a step in the right direction towards my ultimate goal of building a strong choral and classical music presence on campus.”
