Class of 2020
I am a Ghanaian, and I was born at the Ridge hospital here in Accra. Born to a family of seven, that is, I have five other siblings and then my parents. I am the first in my family to attend university right after completing senior high school.
This opportunity means so much to me, and I am grateful for the chance to learn the Ashesi Way, which means I can get most of what I need academically and socially to accomplish my dream of becoming an engineer, while I also get to define my values and sharpen my ethical leadership skills.
Ashesi to me is the best university yet. Aside what is taught academically, I was impressed and moved by the conscious effort to instill the spirit of leadership, good and ethical leadership, the type that Africa needs to move to the next stage of development.

I am studying Electrical & Electronic Engineering because I have a great love for math and science. Engineering allows me to employ these subjects while I critically solve problems around me. I chose the electrical & electronic program because I feel like our world is run more on electrical devices than any other type of device, and to me, the future of Africa will need more electrical revolutions, electric cars, trains, etc. and hence my decision to major in this field.
This summer I was selected to be a coach for the Ashesi Innovation Experience 2018 (AIX). My job was to mentor young participants from high school for two weeks. I had so much fun making new friends and building my personality as well. I also got the chance to build skills as I coached students in the engineering module to build their own smart house through programming and circuit connections. I was even more delighted by the sweet messages from some of my coaches at the end of the experience on how they felt positively impacted by me, my fellow coaches, and the entire program.
Last semester I took a course in circuits and electronics and my favorite thing was the lab sessions because it was a hands-on kind of lab, and I got the opportunity to develop some simple circuits using transistors and other interesting electrical components. It has taught me to appreciate very little things I took for granted, like the TV remote, the ability of a smartphone to respond to touch, and other little details I would otherwise ignore. The time, calculation, and designing of various projects regarding the circuits they are made of are now familiar to me, therefore my appreciation for others’ dedication.

Before that, I aspire to work with any reputable electrical company, like Process and Plants Automation Limited, Ghana or Baker Hughes, to enrich my experience and allow me to explore more electrical engineering.
