I grew up in Teshie-Nungua in Accra, Ghana and I have lived there my entire life. I come from a small family of four, consisting of my parents and my elder sister. My sister is an alum of Ashesi University; she studied Business Administration.

The decision to come to Ashesi was solely mine. I chose Ashesi University because I had come to visit my sister a few times and I had read up on the school. As a result, I had gained knowledge about Ashesi and I noticed how its approach to education was different from the other institutions in Ghana. I observed how the culture within Ashesi was unique and students were empowered to take up various social and entrepreneurial initiatives.

I enrolled at Ashesi with my tentative major being Business Administration, but after my first year, I switched to Management Information Systems (MIS). I did this because I enjoyed my first programming course; I loved how it challenged me and allowed me to create stuff, so I decided to change my major. I chose MIS because although I enjoyed programming, I still wanted knowledge about business, so I felt MIS was the most suitable option as it is a blend of both.

The summer of this year has been quite intriguing. I worked at a technology company called Chalkboard Education as the Operations Associate Intern. Within this role, I applied lots of things I had learned in school, such as project management and programming in an actual work environment. I greatly enjoyed it. I also enjoyed the various people I met.

Model United Nations is one of my favorite activities on campus. In 2017, I participated in the Harvard National Model United Nations Conference. One of the highlights of the trip was visiting both campuses of Harvard and MIT. Meeting different kinds of people from different countries, hearing stories about their nations and the opportunities to build lasting networks made the trip worthwhile.

This scholarship means a lot to me because it has contributed to my presence at Ashesi University and my journey throughout the four years. I am very grateful to all the donors who made this possible as they have made a substantial positive impact on my life.

Concerning my future, my goals are to explore as much as I can and continually develop myself regarding my abilities and skills. I am a firm believer in the application of entrepreneurship to solve problems, so for my future career, I am looking to focus on the creation of problem-solving ventures or becoming an intrapreneur and innovating within a firm.
